Round 11 of the 2023 World Championship took place at the Silverstone Circuit, located in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone, and Whittlebury. The Great Britain Grand Prix was held on July 7-9, featuring three free practice sessions, a qualifying session for the starting grid for Sunday's race, and Sunday's 52-lap race.

The Silverstone Circuit is 3.66 miles in length with 18 turns and two DRS zones. Famously, Silverstone's 18 corners and two long straights are known for their names. Turn 1 – Abbey, Turn 2 – Farm, Turn 3 – Village, Turn 4 – The Loop, Turn 5 – Aintree, Wellington Straight, Turn 6 – Brooklands, Turn 7 – Luffield, Turn 8 – Woodcote, Turn 9 – Copse, Turns 10-14 – Maggots, Becketts and Chapel, Hanger Straight, Turn 15 – Stowe, Turn 16 – Vale, Turns 17-18 – Club.
Free Practice Sessions
Free practice sessions are held over two days during the British Grand Prix. FP1 and FP2 were held on Friday, July 7, and the FP3 was held on Saturday, July 8. Each session is one-hour long. During the Great Britain Grand Prix, nine out of the 10 teams brought upgrades to their cars.
Free Practice 1
The Red Bull team brought another pace-setting performance with a P1 and P2 during FP1. In exciting news for the British fans, Alex Albon of the Williams team placed himself in P3.
Free Practice 2
Carlos Sainz of Scuderia Ferrari, won his first-ever F1 pole victory here last year and managed to set his pace with a P2 during this session.
Free Practice 3
This session saw rain fall down on the Silverstone Circuit for the first time during the weekend. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Albon of Williams were both able to overcome electrical issues before the start of this session and took the top two spots in the final practice session.
Qualifying
The cheers from the crowd for home hero Lando Norris as he secured P2 in the starting grid for Sunday’s race were deafening. In even more shocking news, even for pole sitter Max Verstappen, the UK-based team – McLaren secured both its drivers in starting positions for Sunday's race with rookie Oscar Piastri’s P3.
Race
As lights out were called, Lando Norris gained the lead of the British Grand Prix overtaking Max Verstappen, and was soon sandwiched between the McLaren’s with rookie Oscar Piastri.

Norris led the race for four laps before Verstappen reclaimed the lead at Brooklands during lap 5.

During lap 10, Alpine’s Esteban Ocon had to retire in the pits.

Sergio Perez of Red Bull, moved his way up past Stroll’s Aston Martin to claim P11, up five places from his starting position.
In a turn of events, Kevin Magnussen’s Hass car came to a sudden stop and came up with smoke during lap 33, deploying a full safety car into lap 34. Many cars pitted under the safety car.
Hamilton’s pit stop under the safety car jumped past Piastri, landing him in P3 during lap 34.
During lap 38, the safety car is called in clearing the way for 14 laps of full speed.
Lando held off Hamilton from taking P2 for the rest of the race leaving Hamilton in P3, ending the race with a double-British podium for home heroes. Verstappen claims his sixth consecutive win this season.
